1915-1916 Washburn Model 1915 Style 1115 Parlor Guitar with Hardshell Case
1915-1916 Washburn Model 1915 Style 1115 Parlor Guitar with Hardshell Case

A very fun parlor piece from early Washburn Chicago.  Spruce top with Brazilian Rosewood back and sides and Brazilian Rosewood fretboard and bridge.  There are a number of long cracks in the sides which have been repaired.  The piece is all original with flat plate tuners.  A loud and resonant piece with a deep “V” profile neck.  Nut width 1 3/4".

Washburn Model 1915 Style 1115.  Model 1915 was introduced in 1915 and ran through 1921.   Its serial number is 38385, which by my research and guessing dates it to around 1916.   It has Brazilian Rosewood on the back, sides, fingerboard and headstock overlay.   Mahogany neck, spruce top, and ebony bridge round it out.   Size-wise, it's slightly smaller than a Martin size 1, but larger than a size 2.  Original frets are in good shape and the neck is straight.  Tuners work well.  The sides are very figured Brazilian Rosewood that has cracked in many places over time.  The top and the back exhibit no cracks.  At one time this piece had a trapeze tailpiece.  No sure why, but holes are there in the bottom side wall.  Pins and saddle are newer.  Comes with a TKL hardshell case that fits well.
