1977 Max Krimmell Dreadnought Jumbo Acoustic #106- Sunburst
Max Krimmel was a Colorado Luthier from Nederland CO who built guitars from 1965 to 1983. From 1965-1982, he built 167 guitars for such notable musicians as: Jerry Jeff Walker, Stephen Stills, David Bromberg, Bob Shane (of the Kingston Trio), Carla Sciaky, Mary Flower, Chuck Pyle, Al DiMeola and Bonnie Carol. Max states that “he was doing the right thing, in the right place, at the right time.” He is being modest with that statement; if he didn’t have the incredible talent and skill that he has, no one would have paid attention to his guitars in the first place. Max crafted excellent quality acoustic guitars and musicians bought them. Max was closely associated with Caribou Ranch Studios and many of his guitars went to people recording at Caribou. Max gave up guitar building but his guitars are part of a Colorado legacy. He currently is an alabaster lathe artist.
Krimmel guitars are rarely for sale and this is a Jumbo model with a Sitka Spruce top and Mahogany back and sides. It is in excellent condition with some light scratches on the back and light pick scratches on the front. Big, rich sounding piece.
