1955 Harlin Bros. Muilti-Kord Steel

1955 Harlin Bros. Muilti-Kord Steel

This is an 8 string, 4 pedal configuration.  The Volume and Tone Pot codes are 137536 so 1955  Instrument plays smoothly, sounds great and comes in it’s original case. The Multi-Kord Nameplate is missing.  The finish is a red refin.  The original sky blue with white spackled paint can be seen in the pockets.  Aside from the refinish the steel is all original.

It has 8 new strings and is currently set up for C6 tuning (A-C-E-G-A-C-E-G).  I have verified that the pedals work and they do engage preset cords.

The pickup is very strong and clear - sounds amazing!  The volume and tone controls work well and were recently cleaned.  The little red tone roll-off button works fine.

Includes the original hardshell case with plush red interior, which is in fair condition.

This was made by Harlin Brothers of Indianapolis, IN, who were pioneers in the development of the pedal steel guitar. J D Harlin invented the first commercially viable pedal steel guitar, the Multi-Kord.”In 1939, the Harlin Brothers developed a pedal steel guitar called the Multi-Kord. The pedals were designed to make tuning easier and faster. It was one of the best steel guitars made at that time.
