1960s Danelecto Model 4021 Doublecut with Hand Vibrato

Early 1960s Danelectro Model 4021 double cut with Hand Vibrato.  Dual lipstick pickups with primitive Dano trem system.  In Very Good condition and all original with the original chipboard case.  Prior owner carved his SSN in the back of the headstock.  Comes with the original chipboard case.  This is a very cool piece

Among the rarer and more unique USA-made ‘60s Danelectro models, the double-cutaway model 4021 features a pair of lipstick single coil pickups and Danelectro’s proprietary “hand” vibrato. Looking to compete with the ever-growing popularity of vibrato-equipped electric guitars in the burgeoning '60s marketplace, Danelectro's chief architect, Nathan Daniel, developed the hand vibrato with a design that enabled compatibility with Danelectro’s standard three-point bridge.

The hollow Masonite and poplar body with a moderately chunky C-shaped profile carve . Slab rosewood fretboard, the medium jumbo fretwire that show wear in the first 5 frets.  The white binding around the body is in nice shape with no tears.

The electronics included stacked pairs of Volume and Tone controls for each pickup, and the harness is original, still surrounded by the original flexible copper shielding. We did not open the shielding to look at the pots.  The electronics work perfectly with no scratchiness or hum.

The guitar has been set up by our tech and plays nicely.  Hand trem works properly.
